The AFC.comAFC Member Association of the Year: Japan FAWednesday, 24 November 2010Kuala Lumpur: The Japan Football Association (JFA) won the AFC Member Association of the Year at the AFC Annual Awards on Wednesday.
AFC Executive Committee member and JFA President Junji Ogura collected the award on behalf of his association from FIFA Vice President Dr Chung Mong-joon.
The other two nominees for the Award were the Football Federation of Australia and the Iran Football Association.
“This is such a prestigious award and we are very thankful,” saud Ogura. “We will continue to do our best to contribute to the development of football in Asia.”
The Japan FA continue to lead the way in terms of promoting and developing the game in the country and the J.League, one of the biggest domestic competitions in the world, is an example of their efforts.
Apart from producing top leagues, the JFA also develops football at all levels, be it women, men or futsal.
