Azerbaijani Araz futsal club third in UEFA Cup elite round

The matches of Group B of the elite round of the UEFA futsal cup ended in Russian Yekaterinburg yesterday.

Azerbaijan’s Araz was playing Russian VIZ-Sinara in the final third round. By the moment when the match started it came out that Italian Montesilvano beat Cyprus Ararat 10:0. This means that Araz was to win with the gap of 11:0 to take the first place and gain the only trip to the Final of Four. Considering the strength and titles of the opponent the task was almost impossible.

In the result Araz did not even manage to gain at least minimal victory. The Yekaterinburg club turned stronger-3:2. The score on the 9th minute was opened by Nakhchivan’s futsal player Eder. But on the 12th minute Dmitri Prudnikov equated the score. On the 34th minute Alexei Mokhov led the hosts forward however in three minutes Rizvan Farzaliyev restored the balance with the penalty. On the whole, VIZ-Sinara won. Mokhov scored the decisive goal on the 39th minute.

Montesilvano took the first place with 7 points and reached the decisive stage. The Russian team became second with 6 points, Araz gained 4 points and took the third place. Ararat ended the contest without points.
