Dutra fires Maccabi to the top

November 29, 2010

WELLINGTON - A Denny Dutra penalty with the last kick of the game against East City fired Maccabi Hafoah to the top of the New Zealand Football Futsal National League yesterday.

Earlier Dylan Manickum 's stunning hatrick had brought East City level with the high flying Sydney side before Futsal White goalkeeper Elias Billeh's trip on Jarrod Basger in the final moments allowed Dutra to step up and seal Sunday morning's feature game 4-3.

Unbeaten Capital City Futsal stayed equal on points with Maccabi but the Australians' Series One goal feast sees them head back over the Tasman ahead on goal difference.

Capital's elegant passing game was one of the features of day two, with coach Brian Blellock's well drilled side running Football South Futsal and Red Sox Manawatu ragged as they stroked the ball around at will.

Other day two highlights included a hatrick from Futsal White playmaker Miro Major to lead East City to a comprehensive 4-1 over a youthful Christchurch Futsal side, while in the final game of the day, Red Sox Manawatu overcame Christchurch 5-1 in a bottom of the table clash.

The Futsal National League heads to Dunedin in February for Series Two, with Series Three set for Auckland in March.
