Marathon 72-hr futsal competition to usher in 2011

KUALA LUMPUR: A marathon futsal competition called 'The King Of Street futsal' and played for 72 hours non-stop from Dec 31 to Jan 2, is expected to make it into the Malaysia Book of Records.

Organising chairman of the event Mohd Irwan Rizal said the competition organised by the Youth and Sports Ministry, Malaysian Youth Development Organisation and Perbadanan Putrajaya, would be held to usher the new year.

"We are expecting 5,000 teams to participate in the competition organised for the first time. We also hope to make it to the Malaysia Book Of Records," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He added that four categories would be contested, namely Men and women Open, Boys Under-18 and Under-12.

According to the statement, the competition will offer RM100,000 in total prize money.
