24 Teams Expected To Participate In SAM Futsal Tournament

Three hundred players representing 24 media teams are expected to participate in the inaugural SAM-Astro Arena Media Futsal 2010 to be held at the Olympic Council of Malaysia Indoor Sports Arena on Dec 26.

Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) deputy president Asan Ahmad said the futsal tournament would be the association's final activity of the year and held to foster goodwill among the sports writers, sports associations and sponsors.

"SAM hope to see participation from various electronic and print media. After covering various sports activities, it is time for members of SAM to show off their talent on the court," he said after receiving sponsorship pledges at Wisma OCM Thursday.

He added that the futsal tournament will become a permanent event in SAM's calendar.

The champion will receive RM2,000, runner-up RM1,000, third RM750 and fourth RM500, he said.
