A win for Leeds in their first home game against MiddlesbroughLeeds first home game became a goal fest with a unanimous victory over Middlesbrough Futsal Club on 28 November. Games between the two clubs have traditionally been close with Middlesbrough previously finishing above Leeds in the FA Northern League.
On this occasion Leeds were leading within 11 seconds of the start with a goal from “Ze”. Thereafter there was a continuous Leeds onslaught with goals from all around the team including “Ze” again, Raphael Collerile, Fahid Sulamane, Shem Kalabic, Matty Payne and Captain Matt Tyler.
The score at half time had Leeds leading by 9 goals to 2. Unusually the Middlesbrough Manager, Damon Shaw marched his players off to the changing rooms to deliver his verdict on their performance in private.
Whatever he said seemed to have the right effect as, playing most of the second half with a fly goalkeeper, they quickly pulled two goals back. Having the large lead was not really of great benefit to Leeds as the players began to make mistakes and give away needless fouls. Things looked better when Fahild Sulemane fired a shot from his
own half into the open goal - vacated by the fly goalkeeping. And this did steady the ship. Middlesbrough did squeeze another back but Leeds were now no longer under pressure and the game ended with a 10 -5 victory.
A good spectacle for the home supporters with the chance to see a few fancy moves from players when the score allowed them to do so. Also a good win and 3 more point putting Leeds second in the league with an unbeaten playing record so far this season. However I’m sure Manager Junior Roberti will be spending some time working on his defence before the net league game in January 2011.
