BSA Cup futsal tourneys in Jan

Kota Kinabalu: Borneo Sports Arena is organising two BSA Cup 2011 Futsal Tournaments next month, for Men and Women respectively.

The Men's tournament is scheduled on January 15, while the Women's event would be on January 22.

Emily Edwards from BSA said that both tournaments would be played on their official Fifa size courts.

Teams in both tournaments would divided into groups where they would play in a round robin format. The top two teams from each group would then make it to the quarterfinals.

Each match would be played in two 10-minute halves with a one-minute break for half-time.

Both tournaments will have attractive cash prizes up for grabs, including a RM3,000 winners purse for the Men's competition and RM1,500 and RM1,000 respectively for second and third place.

The Women's champion will receive RM2,000, while runners-up will take home RM1,000 and RM800 for third place.

There will also be trophies and medals for the top four teams in both competitions.

Only 30 teams would be accepted for the Men's competition, while entries for the Women's tournament would be limited to 24 teams.

Entry fee is RM400 per Men's team and RM300 per Women's team.

Registrations would be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis and must reach the organiser before January 7 and 14 respectively.
