WEATHER-BEATING small-sided football game futsal returned to Deeside for a second week as Gap Connah’s Quay’s under 14s hosted a tournament at Deeside Leisure Centre.

On the facility’s new 3G artificial turf pitches they welcomed Airbus UK Broughton, A and B teams from Bangor City, Bala Town, Llandudno Town and Rhyl to play the small-sided latin-american version of five-a-side. Prestatyn pulled out of the competition late.

As with last week’s competition Nomads’ older academy sides provided officials for the event with Jamie Wynne, Ryan Jones and Jordan Beck on hand with the whistle.

All teams played each other once and Bangor A came out on top via goal difference over Airbus UK Broughton.

Bangor scored 17 times and conceded six while Airbus also let in six but only scored 12.

This Sunday Nomads will host a competition for under 16s Academy sides.

Hawarden Rangers are the latest club side to accept a taster session of futsal at Deeside Leisure Centre.

The Clwyd Junior League side’s U9s took part in training and a game session.

The side was broke into two teams with Team A winning both games, the first 11-3 and the second 6-4.
