Bernama24 Teams For SAM Futsal ChampionshipDecember 20, 2010KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- Twenty-four teams, mainly from the mainstream media, will participate in the first Astro Arena-SAM Futsal Challenge at the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Indoor Arena, here on Sunday.
Championship director Shaukei Kahar said that also participating in the championship were the Malaka Press Club, Malaysian Malay Football Association, and the Kelantan football supporters club, The Red Warriors.
"Initially, the championship was only confined to the mainstream media whose journalists are members of the Sportwriters Association of Malaysia (SAM).
"But to date, there are still many associations, especially the press clubs in the states, that are keen to participate but SAM had to limit the participation," he said at the balloting for the championship held at the OCM building, here Monday.
The championship, to start at 8.30am, will be held on a one-round league basis at the group stage before the knockout matches at the quarterfinal and subsequent stages.
The champion will receive a cash prize of RM2,000, runner-up RM1,000, third placing RM750 and fourth placing RM500.

D - Astro Arena B, Melaka Press Club, Majalah Stadium.
E - Malay Mail, Astro Arena A, NTV7.
F - Astro Awani, Makkal Osai, Berita Harian.
G - New Straits Times, Kosmo, RTM News Radio.
H - The Star, Utusan Malaysia, Harian Metro.
