Independent On LineNational team prepares for UEFA tournament Malta’s national Futsal team will be playing two friendly matches against Norway today and tomorrow in preparation for next week’s UEFA Euro 2012 mini-tournament.
This mini-tournament will be played at the Cottonera Sportx Complex from 21-24 January. Malta will play against Bulgaria, France and Lithuania.
During a press conference yesterday, Malta national coach Vic Herman said that a year ago his goal was to establish Malta on the international Futsal scene.
Hermans said that this group will be very hard for the Maltese but he said that he hoped for some positive result.
Two matches will be played on 21, 22 and 24 January. The opening match will be between Lithuania and Bulgaria at 4.30pm followed by Malta’s debut againat France.
The following day France will face Lithuania and Malta playes against Bulgaria in the second match.
The mini torunament comes to an end on 24 Januaray with the matches Bulgaria v France and Malta v Lithuania.
Newly appointed technical director Robert Gatt, promised support to Futsal from the MFA Technical Division.
Gatt said he was sure this tournament will be a good promotion to attract children to this sport.
