THE final session of the PYF winter session took place last Friday at Bell’s Sports Centre and featured the last remaining league games of the winter season as well as the knockout PYF Xmas Cup.

In the 14/15 league, The Unbeatables won their two remaining games to squeeze past the finishing line and claim the league title on goal difference, whilst in the 16/17 league Perth Inter confirmed their dominance to secure the title with points to spare.

In the PYF Xmas Cup, the 14/15 group final was contested by Scone and Lemon Tangies, and in a close encounter it was the Tangies who narrowly overcame their opponents to register a 1–0 win and lift the cup.

In the 16/17 group, a keenly contested final between The Unbeatables and Perth Inter saw both sides have chances to win the final but accurate finishing from Perth Inter saw them secure the Cup with a 2–0 win.

The spring 2011 season starts tonight and features some significant changes.

Among the changes are a move to run a six team league for the 14/15 year old age group, and a four team league for the 16/17 year old age group. Players can join as part of a team or as individuals, and all players will be expected to participate in the PYF Academy session, which will run in the coaching hall.

Players and teams are advised to register quickly as places are very limited. The smaller number of teams involved will ensure a significant increase in the amount of game time per player.

The PYF Skillz School will continue to operate as usual and will be open to players aged up to 17 years old. Places are limited to 25 players, so early registration is advised. Registration in all cases is £3 per season and session fees are £2 per evening.

Session times are as follows:

From 7–8pm – PYF Skillz School and PYF Academy Training sessions with the 14/15 league running from 8–9pm and the 16/17 league running from 9–10pm.

PYF are hosting another sitting of their PYF Level 1 Coaching Course in April, and the PYF Level 2 course will be held in August. All PYF Coaching sessions will only be open to registered PYF Coaches. Anyone interested in joining PYF as a Futsal Coach should contact the club.

The annual PYF open tournament has been changed to a summer date and will now be held on June 25 and 26.

The club’s Perth Saltires team were in action on Monday, January 10, when they faced Unreal Madrid in their first game in phase two of the National Futsal League. As expected, it was a very tough encounter and although the PYF team put on a good display, they narrowly lost the game 2–1. Tremendous performances from Myles, Ballingall and Dow were very encouraging and show the level of progress being made by the youth players at this high level.

Plans are also underway to arrange for PYF teams to participate in the prestigious Costa Blanca Futsal Cup in Valencia in mid-July. Full details will be announced to the PYF Academy players in due course.

Tickets for the PYF Xmas raffle are still available for sale. The draw takes place tonight (Friday) during the session at Bell’s Sports Centre. Players are reminded to hand in their ticket stubs by 8pm tonight.

PYF are hosting a Burns Supper night on Friday, February 4, tickets £15 each are now available for sale. Anyone interested in attending should call or email the club for tickets for more information.
