Education Ministry Veteran Favourite

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Education are the hot favourite to win the Group B (Veteran Category) of the Inter-Ministry Sports Festival futsal championship as they won both preliminary round matches at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium Sports Complex in Berakas on Saturday night.

The Ministry ofEducation (MoE) first ousted the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) 2-0 before registering a second win against the Ministry ofReligious Affairs (MRA) 1-0.

Earlier, MRA edged MIPR 1-0.

Other matches in Group D saw a tight challenge against the three teams competing.

In the first match of Group D, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) won against the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) 1-0.

However, MCYS bounced back from the earlier defeat to outplay Ministry of Development (MoD), 3-2.

In the last match of Group D, MoD drew level with MoHA, 2-2.

Also played Saturday (afternoon) were the Open Category of Group B and D.

Ministry of Health (MoH) first recorded a 3-0 win against the Ministry of Communication (MoC) in the Open Category of Group B.

But the MoH failed to continue with their brilliant performance in the first match after the Ministry of Education (MoE) tied them to a 1-1 draw.

In another match, MoE beat MoD, 2-0.

Meanwhile in Group D, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) recorded all wins against their opponents.

The MoHA team first beat the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), 2-1 before defeating MCYS 4-3.

The final match of Group D saw PMO beat MCYS 1-0.

Inter-Ministry Futsal Line-Up Complete

Bandar Seri Begawan - All the pieces are set for the second stage of the Inter-Ministry Sports Festival futsal champion-ship currently being held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) veterans were the final teams to book their slot into the quarterfinals having to contest in the play-offs last night.

The MoH breezed through MoF 2-0 before confirming their berth by defeating the Ministry of Communications (MoC) 4-2 via penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in full time.

After a goal-less 20 minutes, the MoF ousted MoC out of the competition by a 4-3 scoreline in the penalty shoot-out.

The Group A veterans had to compete in the play-offs after all their respective group matches ended in 1-1 draws during the first day of competition on Friday.

Therefore with all the pieces in place, the MoH and the MoF will battle against the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (KKBS) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) respectively tonight.

Other veteran category matches include the Ministry of Education (MoE) taking on the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), while the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) will aim to shoot down the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.

Meanwhile, the open category quarterfinals will also be contested today.

The Ministry of Development will battle the PMO, and the MoH will face the MoF. The MoHA are pitted into battle against the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which will be followed by the Ministry of Education trying to school the MinDef. Open category quarterfinal matches start at 2.30pm and the veteran matches are scheduled to begin at 8pm.
