FA grant for Futsal arena in Handsworth

A NEW five-a-side football arena in Birmingham has secured a £10,000 FA grant to develop local leagues.

The recently opened Futsal arena, in Great Kings Street North, Handsworth, will be targeting its league development at young people.

FA project officer Simon Wright said: “The award will allow Futsal arena to offer great opportunities to young adults in Birmingham and encourage them to participate in futsal.”

Futsal is the only FIFA-recognised five-a-side version of the game and is being played all over the world.

The Birmingham arena, which opened in October, is the largest of three UK Futsal centres.
