French footballer conditionally discharged for handbag theft

A French Futsal footballer currently in Malta was this afternoon conditionally discharged for a year after he pleaded guilty to stealing a handbag containing a mobile phone worth 155 euros and 20 euros in cash from Havana in St Julian’s.

Aouni Aladdin, 22, stole the items to the detriment of Alexia-Ann Delia.

Defence lawyer Joseph Ellis said the accused committed the crime under the effect of alcohol, he cooperated with the police and returned the stolen items.

He would be leaving Malta on Tuesday.
