This is Derby ShireEx-Derbyshire stars beat Rams in Futsal contestFormer Derby County players including Roger Davies, Marc Edworthy and Dick Pratley were beaten by an ex-Derbyshire CCC side in an exhibition of Futsal, a form of football, at Willows Sports Centre.
The Rams side were beaten 8-7 by their opponents, who included Kevin Dean, Steve Stubbings and Matt Cassar in their side.
Futsal, which is a variant of football that is played on a smaller playing surface, mainly indoors, is relatively new to the city, with Willows the first indoor venue to run a league.
The city-based sports centre dedicated an entire evening to the game, allowing teams to try Futsal for free.
James Windscheffell, centre manager at Willows, said the evening was a big success.
"We had lots of local businesses enter teams, such as Orchid IT and the council," said Windscheffel.
"And there was also a representative side from Sheffield FC, who play national league futsal.
"They played – and beat – a Willows representative side and also a Willows five-a-side team.
"There are big plans for Futsal at Willows, including new leagues in the future.
"But we'll take things one step at a time."
