Sport 360°No sweat for Pocari or Ahlan Dibba at Futsal Super CupFriday, 11 February 2011Ahlan Dibba Al Hisn, Pocari Sweat, BB Creations and Starcom have signaled their intentions to go all the way in the Adult Men’s competition at the Sport360 Futsal Super Cup, which ends at Mirdif City Centre Soccer Circus on Saturday.
The event has witnessed a huge turnout in number of participating teams who are vying for the honours in the Adult Men’s, the Under-18s and Under-16s divisions.
The Adult Men’s division has attracted 32 teams and Ahlan Dibba Al Hisn are the best placed side in Group B, following convincing victories over Al Rashideen Trading Company (7-4), Monaco (4-1) and Holland (7-2).
Pocari Sweat are looking the best side in Group A having trounced Iraqi Stars 6-1 and Mandela 3-0 before edging out Fantastic Seven 1-0.
In Group C, BB Creations have shown good form in beating bankers Emirates NBD 8-4, Juventus 5-4 and Dream Team 3-0.
Starcom are the dominant side in Group D, having beaten Movenpick 3-1, Menacom 4-0 and OMD1 5-2.
In the Under-18 division, Beasts and Dynamites have emerged as the teams to beat in Group A and B respectively.
The Beasts thrashed Faces 5-2, scorched Dream Team 8-1 and overcame Barcelona 3-0 to top the group, while the Dynamites were explosive in the other half of the table, with a 11-1 bombardment of Red Devils, a 4-2 beating of Team Mourinho and an 8-5 mauling of DMES.
Arsenal and UAE Stars could go head-to-head in the Under-16 division finals after both teams proved their class yesterday.
Arsenal seized the advantage to hog top spot in Group A with a 9-2 beating of Fusion and 14-4 and 15-5 drubbings of Chelsea FC and Al Marri.
The UAE stars dominated proceedings in Group B, with a commanding 15-7 defeat of Real Madrid and a 3-0 victory over CBR.
The knockout phase starts at 10am today with the finals scheduled for a 7pm kick-off.
Rashid Al Kamali, Director - Marketing and Promotions at Dubai Sports Council (DSC), said DSC is backing the tournament, so that “more people come and participate in sporting activities and develop a sports lifestyle from a young age.”
