Nestle Product's Coffee and Beverages Business Unit executive director Don Howard said this year, the company targeted about 2,000 teams to participate in the tournament which would kick off next Saturday.
The first stage of the tournament will be held in all the 14 states, with the best 32 under-12 and under-16 boys teams to qualify for the grand final, which will be held at Sports Planet Ampang on July 24.
The carnival was launched by Malaysian former national footballer and football commentator Serbegeth Singh, better known as Shebby, at the Indoor Sports Arena, Wisma OCM, here, Sunday.
Howard said the Nestle-Milo corporate initiative hoped to nurture, guide and inspire children to enjoy the wonders of sports at a very young age, besides developing champions for the future and assisting the nation in the development of sports at the grassroot level.
He said cash prizes of up to RM15,000 in the form of savings accounts would be given to each winning participant in the grand final.
Meanwhile, Serbegeth said futsal helped to develop stamina, speed and ball control which were important in developing talents in the game and having good skills in futsal was fundamental to building a good footballer.
