Futsal Action Kicks Off As KKBS Departments Battle For Supremacy

Bandar Seri Begawan - Eleven teams are currently competing in the open category of the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Futsal Challenge Trophy at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Divided into two groups, Group A consist of Museum, Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) A, Community Development Department (JAPEM) A, Department of Youth and Sports (JBS) B and Historical Centre A.

Meanwhile the six teams in Group B are Historical Centre B, JAPEM B, JBS C, JBS A, DBP B and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (KKBS).

JAPEM B started off their campaign on the right foot by edging Historical Centre B 1-0 in the competition opener. Group B opponents JBS A also pipped JBS C by a 2-1 scoreline.

Meanwhile in Group A action, DBP A won 2-1 against Museum.

The inaugural tournament also features a veterans category, participated by: Historical Centre, KKBS, Museum, JBS A and JBS B.

Veterans action begins tonight between Museum and Historical Centre slated for 7.30pm.

The six-day tournament will conclude on March 11. Veterans final will take place at 8am, while the men's open final will start at 8.40pm.

Among the objectives of the competition is to foster closer relations between staff and officers of the different departments under KKBS.

It is also aimed towards improving their physical and mental health, at the same time promoting a healthy lifestyle via sports.

The championship is also an opportunity for the KKBS to scout for potential players to represent the ministry in future futsal and football tournaments at the department, ministry and national levels.
