Kuching teams conquer top two spots at championship

SIBU: The futsal teams from Kuching conquered the top two placing in the ‘Sibu Open Futsal Championship 2011’ when the War’s 15 emerged champion after defeating their toughest rival, the Real Soccer 3-2 in the final match held at Bukit Lima Indoor Stadium last Saturday.

The joint third placing were Lega-Lego FT from Miri and the AZ futsal team from Sarikei.

The other four consolation prize winners were the KTT Wira Jaya, Viva La Vida, Dragster and the V.8 futsal teams.

The championships which were held on March 19 – 20 was jointly organised by the Apollo Road Youth and the Ministry of Social Development and Urbanisation Sibu.

A total of 32 teams from as far as Kuching, Bintulu, Miri, Kapit, Sarikei and Sibu took part.

The champion team took home a cash prize of RM3,000 while the second and third placings pursed RM1,500 and RM500 respectively.

They also received trophies and medals.

Meanwhile consolation winners brought home cash prize of RM250 each.

The closing cum prizes presentation ceremony was officiated by the managing director of the Forestkin Group, Dato’ Sri Luk Teck Hoe.
