IRISH Futsal will host its premier event on Saturday, April 9, at Gormanston College when EID Futsal face Blue Magic FC in the FAI Futsal Cup Final (1.00pm).

These two sides are sure to produce the highest level of the FIFA-approved version of 5-a-side football after impressive campaigns on the road to the final.

EID Futsal’s squad includes the majority of the Sporting Fingal/EID players that won the competition in 2010 and went on to become the first Irish side to qualify past the preliminary round of the UEFA Futsal Cup.

Brazilians Rodrigo De Melo and Helio Neto are all bidding to win the FAI Futsal Cup for the third time having starred in the St Patrick’s Athletic side that won the FAI Futsal Cup in 2008.

EID Futsal’s squad also includes Irish international Ross Zambra while the majority of their squad are Brazilian.

Blue Magic were beaten in last year’s final by Sporting Fingal/EID and their squad is mostly made up of Polish players but they include a number of other nationalities including Brazilian Jackson Alexandre, Moldovans Sergei Musteata and Alex Gutu and Irish futsal international Lloyd Massey.

Both sides won all three of their group matches with EID Futsal beating Alpha FC 10-3 in their semi-final while Blue Magic were 4-3 winners over Emerald Futsal League Champions Shamrock Rovers in the last four.

Entrance to the final is free and all are welcome to attend.
