Najib To Have Meaningful Interaction With Local Youths Through Futsal

KUCHING, April 12 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will initiate some meaningful interaction with local youths tomorrow when he visits the futsal court at Jalan Muhibbah here that is being run by the Kelab Sukan Komuniti Satok.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok Youth chief Irwan Zulkarnain Hasbie said Tuesday the court, housed within the Satok Sports Complex, served the local community from 12 nearby Malay kampungs as well as Kuching residents who wished to rent the facility.

"We are truly proud that the prime minister will take time off his busy schedule to interact with the kampung folks," Irwan, who is also the club's chairman, told Bernama here.

Since it was operational in early last year, he said, the complex had a jogging track and ample parking bays besides two courts for futsal, a 5-a-side version of soccer that is played indoors.

Najib, who has said that young people should have idealism and expectations of fair and just governance, attended a 1Malaysia Night gathering at the Padang Merdeka here Monday night as a gesture to reach out to youths and engage them in dialogue.

While in the Satok vicinity, Najib is also scheduled to visit Sekolah Kebangsaan Merpati Jepang to meet the people and attend a programme organised by 1Malaysia Development Berhad.

Earlier in the day, he will be attending a meet-the-people session at the basketball court of the Kuching City South Council (MBKS) flats at Jalan Ban Hock here, where he is expected to visit some needy families.

The prime minister is also expected to fly by helicopter from here to Pusa and Sebuyau in Betong division, Sadong Jaya in Samarahan division and Bau near here for his customary walkabouts to be close to the people.

He will make a brief stopover at the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) stalls at Simunjan, Samarahan for lunch with the local community there.

As part of his three-day visit to the state, he is also scheduled to visit Marudi and Bario in Miri division, Lawas and Limbang in Limbang division, Miri city, Kapit and Song.
