Daily ExpressWest Coast continue domination at futsal c'shipSunday, April 24, 2011Kota Kinabalu: West Coast continued their domination at the Futsal Inter-Zone Championship 2011, which is on-going at the Borneo Sports Arena in Kolombong, yesterday.
The tournament hosts won their matches in all divisions including the Men's Open where they thrashed Sandakan 10-0.
West Coast was given a free victory in the Women's Open proceedings after North Zone was ruled for a walkover.
Their Men's Under-20 team also hit the mark by hammering North Zone 8-0.
Defending champions in the Men's Open division, Tawau, got off rolling with an 8-3 victory over West Coast South. The other match saw Interior Upper steal the limelight when they demolished North Zone 16-4.
In the Women's Open competition, Interior Upper notched a 2-1 victory over West Coast South.
West Coast South, however, were lucky to gain a victory when North Zone forfeited the match by way of a walkover.
There were also matches in the Under-20 divisions. Sandakan registered a convincing 5-1 victory over Tawau in the Men's category, while Interior Upper trounced Tawau 11-0 in the Women's section.
They also beat West Coast South by the same margin in the afternoon match.
A total of 23 teams are competing in the championship, which is contesting four categories, namely the Men's and Women's Open and Under-20 events.
The tournament ends today with the final scheduled at 11.30am.
