Futsal Expected To Be Biggest Drawcard For National Youth Day Celebrations

Futsal will be the biggest event and highlight of this year's National Youth Day celebrations to be held in Putrajaya and expected to see a record gathering, said Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Ahmad Shabery said 1,624 teams had registered for the Rentap Futsal competition that would be held over four days starting Thursday.

He said the registration of 1,624 teams had surpassed the initial target of 1,600 teams for the event.

"In fact the response was so good that we had to reject entries that came after the said figure. The futsal matches in various categories will be held on a 24-hour basis throughout the four days," he said after receiving sponsorship pledges for the Rentap Futsal 2 competition here Monday.

Ahmad Shabery said futsal aside, there would also be motorsport, marathon, high-performance and community events.

He added that they would also start a donation drive for the land slide victims in Hulu Langat, throughout the celebrations.
