Chalkstone Middle School have futsal fever

Sunday 29 May 2011

Chalkstone Middle School children took part in a futsal competition.

The Suffolk Schools’ Sports Partnership (SSSP) organised the event at Samuel Ward Academy with Suffolk FA for Year Seven children, as two boys’ and one girls’ team from Chalkstone took on a team of each gender from Great Cornard.

Futsal is a five-a-side football game invented in Brazil with a smaller ball than 11-a-side football.

Cornard beat Chalkstone I 3-0 before triumphing 1-0 over Chalkstone II, while sandwiched between Chalkstone I beat the school’s second V 6-1.

Cornard’s girls’ team thrashed Chalkstone 8-0 as the visitors emerged triumphant on the day.

Games were refereed by Suffolk FA development officer for futsal Phil Woolnough.
