SHEFFIELD FUTSAL STARS SHINE IN ENGLAND VICTORY

Three of Sheffield FC Futsal’s title winning team were involved in international action at the weekend with a great 2-1 victory over Montenegro.

Ollie O’Neil, Ben Mortlock and goalkeeper Chris Holmes were involved an ever improving squad that beat a side over 30 places ahead of them in the world rankings.

The win at Hereford’s Point 4 venue avenged a 4-2 defeat a day earlier, and the result is ideal preparation for their upcoming encounters, in Sheffield, against Greece next month.

The games will take place at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield on Friday June 24, kick off 7.30pm and Saturday June 25, kick off at 4pm. Tickets are available from www.arenaticketshop.co.uk through the ticket hotline on to 0114 256 55 67 or in person at the Motorpoint Arena Box Office.

COACHING SESSIONS SET TO FIND NEXT GENERATION OF SHEFFIELD FUTSAL STARS

Youngsters aged 15-19 have the chance to try out the fast-paced and fast-growing game of Futsal in Sheffield with coaching sessions ran by the city’s title winning team.

Futsal is a global indoor sport based upon a quicker and more exciting version of 5-a-side football, which has been attributed to the development of world stars including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robinho.

Coaching will be organised by Sheffield FC Futsal, the current FA Northern League Futsal champions and one of the top three clubs in England in conjunction with the Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA, with the hope of blooding keen teens into the Futsal first team.

Sheffield FC Futsal manager Richard Moore said: “These sessions will hope to develop the next generation of national Futsal league players, feeding into the Sheffield FC Futsal team who at present have three full England internationals.”

The sessions will be held every Wednesday at 6pm until 8pm at Sport Hallam, Pearson Building, Sheffield Hallam University.
