Day five is here! In the past days we went through the women player, goalkeeper, referee and young player categories. Who's next? Today the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2010 - 11th Edition by Futsalplanet.com are ready to celebrate a team rather than an individual name. It's time to analyze the elite of the international futsal stage: so, which is the Best National Team of the World in the year 2010? Our congratulations to Spain!
January, the golden year begins The furias rojas needed few time to experience a perfect approach in the new year. After a winning friendly against Netherlands it was already time for the Euro 2010 happening. Old squad for Hungary? No ambitions for players at the end of their experience with the national team? The answers are in the game reports and in one more title of Spain. Javi Rodriguez, Daniel... futsal stars are never tired of wins. Spain will miss them, but new cracks are ready for future achievements, see below.
Arnedo, Spain in control Celebrations for the Hungarian triumph were soon archived, as happens for winning groups that immediately think about new challenges. The renovation process was already in progress during the international tournament of Arnedo. Usually this kind of "generation changes" need time in order to succeed, but "Spain is different". No chances for Romania, Italy and Japan: they're the champions, once again.
World Cup (sports) revenge Three more friendlies thrashing twice Guatemala and then Qatar were just a mere introduction for the "real event". The whole world of futsal was waiting for this moment since two years and five days: 19/10/2008-24/10/2010, history is not always the same. From Rio de Janeiro to Anápolis many things were changed in the furias rojas and the general "feelings" were in favour of a brazilian dominance over a younger Spain. How did this end? Ask to Rafa Usin and to "mr. what a goal" Ortiz, they're guilties for one more unforgettable title brought to Europe.
18 wins (17 at the end of the 40 minutes), one draw and zero losses in the year, we believe that's enough to consider Spain as the winner of the Best National Team of the World category of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2010 - 11th Edition by Futsalplanet.com!!
Enhorabuena España!
Special mention: Braziian Women National Team One year ago we were mentioning the Brazilian Women National Team for their third win in the South American Championships. How could we avoid to do that again after the Vander Iacovino's girls claimed the first ever Women Futsal World Cup title? Jozi, Néia, Giga Paraná, Valéria, Taty, Cilene (Best Woman Player of the World 2008), Gabi, Neguinha, Jessiquinha, Jéssika, Vanessa (Best Woman Player of the World 2010), Marcela, Ju Delgado and Luciléia: they're futsal Queens!
