Susan LiuFOR the love of soccer, Erin Hill, 15, has immersed herself in all aspects of the game.
The Colyton student is not only a talented midfielder, but the captain of the NSW under-14 futsal team and a referee in her spare time.
Erin started started playing soccer with her two older brothers when she was five years old.
Since then, she has developed a natural ability to rise up the ranks and in both school and rep competitions.
In August, Erin will travel to South Australia to compete in the National Christian Schools Football Championships.
“The competition will be a lot harder this year. But we have a very good team,” Erin said. “It’s all about good team work and the skills involved.
“You have to have good technical skills, leaderships skills and have good communication.”
Erin, who is the school captain of Mamre Anglican School, took up futsal during the soccer off-season to focus on her technique and keep active.
“I prefer futsal because it’s faster and because it’s a more up-beat game,” she said.“The score can change just like that.”
She is this week’s Mt Druitt-St Marys Standard’s junior sports star award nominee.
Aunt Janet Ruttiman praised Erin for her energy and positive attitude.
The Standard would like to thank major sponsor Rebel Sport and local sponsor St Marys Leagues Club for their support. To nominate a junior sports star go to juniorsportsstar.com.au.
