Gulf DailyKFH 'B' team lift Bankers crownSunday, June 26, 2011KUWAIT Finance House (KFH) 'B' claimed the Super Cup of the 15th Manama Club Bankers Five-A-Side Futsal Championships defeating KFH 'A' 3-2 on penalties.
The final, held at the club's Al Haj Khalil Murtada Dawani Gym in Juffair, was played between last year's league champions KFH 'A' and cup holders KFH 'B' team.
The two teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regular time. Ahmed Abdulrasool gave KFH 'A' team an early lead. KFH 'B', however, were soon back in the game and put the scores level through Sayed Mohammed Abbas' strike.
The early stages of the second-half saw KFH 'B' pile on the pressure and their efforts paid off through Nawaf Al Malki.
But with one minute remaining, KFH 'A' found the equaliser thanks to Rashid Jamal's penalty kick conversion.
Both teams then went on to play the penalty shoot-out, where KFH 'B' converted all their three kicks while KFH 'A' could score from two as Raed Baba missed the deciding shot.
The match was attended by senior sports officials, headed by the club's honorary chairman Abdulhussain Dawani, who honoured the winners and runners-up.
In the ongoing league competition, the Bahrain Saudi Bank (BSB) edged KPMG Fakhro 4-2 for their maiden win.
In the other matches of the day, Bahrain Development Bank battled past Al Baraka Bank 1-0 while three-time league champions Ahli United Bank trounced Gulf International Bank (GIB) 5-0.
The group stage continues today with four crucial matches that will decide the fate of some teams taking part.
In the first game, AhIi United Bank take on HSBC in Group 'E' at 7pm, to be followed by KFG 'B' vs Future Bank in Group 'A' at 7.45pm.
In the remaining matches, Central Bank of Bahrain encounter GIB in Group 'E' at 8.30pm while Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait face BSB in Group 'F' at 9.15pm.
