Brazil, Uruguay Open 2003 Copa Latina de Futsal with Victories
The futsal national team’s of Brazil and Uruguay opened the 2003 Copa Latina de Futsal with victories at the Ginásio Cidade in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil on Wednesday night.
The experience capturing three FIFA world titles paid off for Brazil as they posted a hard-fought 4:3 victory over a Brazilian Youth Select team on 15 May.
With the score tied at 2:2 late in the second half, defender Fabiano gave the Brazilian Youth squad the lead 3:2 with a goal in the 38th minute of play.
Then the samba kings refused to suffer a loss at home as forwards Falcão and Neto scored in the final minute of the game to post the victory.
In an earlier game, tallies by forwards Sena, Martín Hernández and midfielder Gonzalo Rodríguez paced Uruguay to a 3:0 blanking of México.
The Copa Latina de Futsal continues tonight when Mexico battles Brazil at 18:30, while Uruguay takes on the Brazilian youths at 20:00.
The four-team annual event concludes on 17 May, as Mexico squares off against the Brazilian youths at 8:30, while the host faces Uruguay at 10:15.
