Futsal team wins national title

The Hawks, a local Futsal team, won the U.S. Futsal GU19 National Championship last weekend in Anaheim, Calif.

Six of the seven players on the team live in Anne Arundel County and are either current or former soccer players from South River and Severna Park high schools.

The Hawks also won the U.S. Futsal Northeast Regional tournament in February, and the Maryland Futsal State Tournament in January.

Over the past 10 months the team has a combined record of 29-1-0.

Team members include Chiny Asher, Nicole Greig, Kristin Howe, Tara Kavanaugh, Marisa Kresge, Jen LaBarge, and Kim LaBarge.
