Futsal league resumes this Saturday

The current Honiara futsal league will resume its matches this Saturday after a month hold up due to circumstances b yond the organizing committee’s control.

This was revealed to Star Sports by competition officer Tonny Wale.
Mr Wale said games will resume this Saturday with catch up matched of the under 10/11 category and quarter finals to be followed suit.

He explained that the hold up to the games was due to the engagement of the Multipurpose Hall for the past month, club arrears in terms of team entry fees and club registration fees and the response from the league’s sponsor regarding a set date on when all finals should be played.

He said the other contributing factor is they are operating without an office which makes it very difficult for their committee to organize the league.

“Furthermore since we are only doing this job voluntarily, we try our very best to use our free times out of work to attend to games and manage it,” said Mr Wale.

He said they have found it very tough for them to run the league this year because the number of teams increases plus there is no office to operate from.

“This has left only four out of the seven committee members left to try and organize the league,” Mr Wale said.

However he wants to thank the members of the public for their concern over the halt to the league.

He further stated that their committee will try their best to finish the league successfully despite of them being doing the work voluntarily and sometimes they fail their job due to other work commitments.

Meanwhile Mr Wale called on all teams concerned that the league will now kick off this Saturday and will continue next week till the finals.

Fixtures for matches this Saturday and next week will come out in tomorrow’s paper.
