Arena Sukan eyes 72 teams in futsal tourney

KUCHING: Arena Sukan is organising its 4th Junior Futsal Tournament at its sports complex along Jalan Wan Alwi on Nov 12.

The sports centre is targeting a total of 72 teams to compete in the Under 15 and Under 12 categories of the competition.

Each team will comprise eight players and the organiser is expecting around 700 people including participants, supporters to turn up for the event.

Attractive prizes totalling RM3,000 are up for grabs, with the U-15 champions getting RM900 and gold medals, runners-up RM500 and silver medals while the third placed team will receive RM300 and bronze medals.

As for the U-12, the champions will win RM600 and gold medals, runners-up RM400 and silver medals and third to get RM300 and bronze medals.

All team members will receive a RM10 futsal training voucher and other goodies.

Interested teams are to register now at Arena Sukan (082-363577/017-8087017) and the closing date for entries is Nov 2.

The spokesperson added that the competition is its continuous commitment to the on-going development programmes to encourage youths’ participation in sporting activities,

“Over the last three years, we had successfully organised our annual Junior Futsal Tournament that attracted many teams, young players, supporters, the media and invited guests,” the sports centre said in a press statement.

Arena Sukan runs its own futsal academy, a weekly training programme for the U-17 players conducted by qualified and experienced coaches.

“Our vision is to be able to provide a healthy environment for sports, team bonding through sports, inculcate fair play through competitions and most importantly, give us an opportunity to identify talented young players through our futsal academy and in-house tournament,” it added.
