Maksak futsal tourney attracts 100 players to Kapit

KAPIT: About 100 futsal players from other divisions in the state will compete in the state level Maksak Futsal tournament organised by the State Maksak from Oct 1to2.

Kapit Maksak chairman Dahim Nadot, who is also Kapit Resident, said Kapit was given the honour to host the two-day state level competition at the Indoor Stadium of the Integrated Sports Complex at Jalan Bleteh.

The police department headed by Kapit Police Chief DSP Entusa Imam will be the organiser of the competition here and he will be also the chef de mission for Kapit’s teams.

“Other games such as golf, tennis, table tennis volleyballs are hosted by the other divisions” said Dahim at flag handing over ceremony at his office here on Thursday.

According to Dahim the competitions is divided into men and women categories and 12 teams will be competing in the men’s category.

Meanwhile 11 teams will be competing in the women’s event.

Dahim revealed that as incentives for Kapit teams, any teams that manage to emerge as winners of the competition will receive cash RM 1000, RM750 and RM500 for second and third placings respectively.

“This is our commitment to motivate the players to play well”, he said.

Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi would be officiating at the opening ceremony today at 11am while the closing cum prize giving ceremony would be at 4pm tomorrow.

He added that expenses for the competitions would be borne by the State Maksak.

The organising committee is also offering prizes for fair play team, top scorer and the oldest player for both the men and women categories.

Dahim pointed out that although Kapit has no golf course, the division will be sending a team of four players to compete in Miri on Oct 8. The players are Dahim himself, DSP Entusa Imam, DSP Jayadi and Edwin Abit.

On behalf of the organising committee he thanked the Kapit MP for sponsoring Kapit division Maksak teams.
