Dubbed as the "Subic Bay Futsal Cup" (SBFC), eight other teams will also participate in different category of the tourney. In the qualifiers, football teams from Makati, Olongapo, Gordon College and Subic will compete with each other to qualify for the PFCWC.
The PFCWC National Finals will pit 10 other futsal champions from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
"This proves that football can be played anywhere. A basketball court, or any safe open space, will do nicely," John Bayarong, organizer of the tournament, said.
Futsal is a five versus five football game played indoors. The word "Futsal" comes from the Portuguese phrase "futebol de salao" or the Spanish, "futbol de sala", which basically means indoor football.
It is the official International Football Federation Association (FIFA) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) version of indoor five a side football.
The Subic Bay Futsal Cup age groups are 8 & Under, 11 & Under, 14 & Under and the 15 & Above (Open Division).
"Futsal has arrived in Subic Bay and it is here to stay. Now, we have another fun way to help us make our kids healthy," Bayarong said.
