The Flinders NewsKids have fun at futsal competitionby
Dylan Smith18 Oct, 2011Kids around the region ended the school holidays in style, with a Blue Light-sponsored futsal competition in the Big Shed at Jamestown on Friday.
Organised by Brevet Sergeant Steve Garden, from Crystal Brook, 14 teams played off in the Under 15, 13 and 11s to try and win their competitions.
The region was well-represented, with children from Jamestown, Crystal Brook, Gladstone, Orroroo and Port Pirie.
Brevet Sergeant Garden said he was pleased with the participation on the day and thanked David Stacey for helping to organised the event.
We have wanted to do the competition for a while now, he said. We wanted to encourage children to keep fit and to enjoy some social soccer.
Its nice for the kids to interact within a police environment.
Keen soccer enthusiast William Crouch, from Crystal Brook, said he enjoyed kicking some goals on the day.
I love the skill in soccer and having fun with friends, he said.
Brevet Sergeant Garden is planning on holding another competition again next year.
