Great community support for High School Futsal teams

01 Nov, 2011

The Bellingen High School Futsal teams are soon to embark on the challenge of taking on the best Futsal teams in our country at the Australian Champion of Champions. The competition is to be held at Runaway Bay with the 16 years and 19 years teams competing on 4th,5th and 6th November and the 14years teams competing on the 25th, 26th and 27th November.

Bellingen High School has an amazing 5 teams qualifying for these championships. With travel and accommodation expenses adding up, it is great to get community support behind these talented students.

The Bellingen Diggers Swimming Club, better know as the Bellingen Bats, have been exceedingly generous and donated all five teams $100 each to assist with those costs. This will definitely make the trips easier. The Bats swim every Monday night at the Bellingen pool and everyone is welcome. You don’t have to be good you just have to be willing to get wet, as all races are on handicap! The funds are raised by the Bats, through raffles held Friday nights, at the Federal Hotel.

Many of the students have also been out selling their raffle tickets to help subsidize the costs. Thanks must also go to the businesses and individuals that donated prizes for these raffles, and also Jo Marshall and Pauline Leslie who chased up the sponsors. Donations for the 16 years and 19 years raffles were made by Ave, Vivid, Roots Records, Alchemy, Tavern Bistro, Hair Odyssey, Federal Hotel, Diggers Tavern and Bruce Baigent.
