Are you looking for a series of exercises to develop strength and stamina? Or do you want to work on your tackling and ball skills? Whatever the case may be, you will find everything you need to improve training techniques when working with players between ages 6 and 18 in the brand new “
Futsal Coaches’ Training Course”, to be launched shortly by the
FIFA Futsal Committee.
“This particular project was presented to the Futsal Committee at a meeting on 28 October 2002,” said
Victor Beceiro, FIFA’s head of Futsal, to FIFA.com. “I should like to commend the massive efforts of
Javier Lozano and
Victor Hermans, the national coaches of Brazil and the Netherlands, who have put all their know-how into this initiative,” he added.
The course manual, comprising a booklet and CD, is the first in a planned series of three. The next two levels will be “Intermediate” and “Advanced”.
The manual is divided into four sections. Section One deals with general training issues and the three others touch on coaching for different age brackets: 6 to 10, 10 to 14 and 14 to 18. The CD contains filmed training exercises putting all the theory into practice.
“Our idea is to provide this teaching manual to all the participants at our courses all over the world, three months before the course starts. In this way, coaches can familiarise themselves with the contents and so be better prepared,” explained Beceiro.
FIFA is also currently drawing up a course for futsal referees.
