Second hat-trick for Shin

Kuala Lumpur: Shin Jong-hoon scored his second hat-trick of the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship, East Zone qualifiers, as Korea Republic eased to a 7-0 win over Hong Kong on Tuesday go into the final four stage as Group A winners.

With both sides having beaten Mongolia the match at the Cheras Indoor Stadium would decide which of the two would take on the winners of Group B and who would face the relatively easier task of facing the Group B runners-up and it was the Koreans whose class told as the inaugural AFC Futsal Championship runners-up raced to a five-goal lead by the break.

Shin set the ball rolling in the second minute and added a second four minutes later before Oh Hyun-jong made it 3-0 in the sixth minute.

Seok Dae-sung made it four in the tenth minute and Jeong Eui-hyun added number five just before the quarter-of-an-hour mark.

Hong Kong were more resilient in the second period and held out until the 31st minute when Oh scored his second of the game before Shin completed his hat-trick and sealed the 7-0 success with a minute left to play.

China cruise to top of Group B

Kuala Lumpur: China cruised to the semi-finals of the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship, East Zone qualifiers as Group B winners thanks to a 6-0 win over Chinese Taipei at the Cheras Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.

With both teams having recorded comfortable victories over Macau, Tuesday's match was a a decider to see who would play the winners and who would play the runners-up in Group A and it was the back-to-back AFC Futsal Championship semi-finalists experience told as China went 4-0 up by the interval.

Feng Wei opened the scoring in the third minute before further goals from Zhao Liang (8th), Deng Tao (12th) and Hu Jie (16th) gave China their commanding half-time lead.

Deng scored his second six minutes into the second period before Hu bagged his brace to complete the scoring two minutes later as China advanced as Group B winners.

Korea's momentum building says Lee

Kuala Lumpur: Korea Republic coach Lee Chang-hwan has said his side are improving with each game in the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship, East Zone qualifiers after comfortably defeating Hong Kong 7-0 to top Group A and set up a semi-final showdown with Group B runners-up Chinese Taipei.

Speaking to www.the-afc.com after Tuesday's win at the Cheras Indoor Stadium, Lee said:

"We gave a better performance than we did against Mongolia and the players' condition is getting better which is a good sign for the next matches."

The South Koreans' win over Hong Kong followed the 5-1 triumph with Shin Jong-hoon netting a hat-trick in both matches.

And not surprisingly Lee is keen to see the star striker continue his prolific form in Thursday's semi-final with Chinese Taipei and beyond.

"Our number seven [Shin] did well again and he is the best player in the team right now. I hope he will continue to perform well in the next two games.

"Our target is to win this competition and to do that we must concentrate fully."
