The AFC.comLebanon down UAE in Group B openerSaturday, 10 December 2011Kuwait City: Lebanon emerged as the early front-runners in Group B of the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship, West Zone qualifiers following their 3-1 win over the UAE on Friday.
Khalid Takaji opened the scoring at the Al Arabi Futsal Stadium in the 6th minute before Hassan Zeitoun doubled Lebanon's lead two minutes later as the UAE, who will host next year's AFC Futsal Championship finals, found themselves going into the break two goals down.
And three minutes after the interval the UAE went further behind with Mostafa Serhan scoring Lebanon's third before Abdulraouf Omar Al Marzouqi got the Emiratis on the score sheet with two minutes of the match remaining.
Lebanon's win so them take pole position in the standings after Bahrain and Iraq played out at 2-2 draw in the later match at the same venue.
After a goalless first period Mohamed Al Sharqawi gave Bahrain a 25th minute lead which was extended eight minutes later through Mohamed Al Sandi.
However, the Iraqis rallied and after Mustafa Bachay had reduced the deficit in the 37th minute Karrar Mohsin earned a share of the spoils just seconds later.

The AFC.comWinning starts for Kuwait, QatarSaturday, 10 December 2011Kuwait City: AFC Futsal Championship 2012, West Zone qualification hosts Kuwait made a winning start in their bid to reach next year's finals with a 3-1 victory over Saudi Arabia in the Group A opener on Friday.
After the two sides cancelled each other out during the first-half, Abdulrahman Al Taweel broke the deadlock seven minutes after the interval before Nasser Al Mesned doubled Kuwait's advantage just sixty seconds later.
Hamad Hayat scored number three in the 31st minute before Abdullah Al Dosary netted a consolation for Saudi Arabia with a minute left to play.
In the earlier match at the Al Qadsia Futsal Stadium naturalised Brazilian Rodrigo scored a hat-trick as Qatar swept aside Syria 6-2.
Saad Al Shahwani put Qatar one up after just two minutes before Rodrigo got the first of his treble in the 16th minute.
Rashid Al Bonin made it 3-0 in the 29th minute but Omar Al Najjar hit back seconds later with Syria's first only for Rodrigo to restore Qatar's three-goal cushion three minutes later.
Syria struck for a second time in the 32nd minute through Mohammad Estanbolli and after Ahmad Raja Al Fayadh had made it 5-2 a minute later, Rodrigo, who scored nine times as Al Sadd finished runners-up at the 2010 AFC Futsal Club Championship, completed his hat-trick and rounded off the 6-2 win with a minute remaining.
