European qualifying roundWorld test for European FutsalThe draw was made in Nyon, Switzerland today for the European qualifying round of the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship.
Ten groupsThe 32 European entrants have been divided into ten groups, with Groups 1 and 2 featuring four teams and the remaining eight sections three each. Five European nations will qualify for the final round, which will be played in Chinese Taipei towards the end of next year.
Holders travel to LatviaSpain, the holders who won the last event in Guatemala three years ago, will travel to Latvia for their Group 10 matches against the host country and Slovakia. The teams' positions in their respective groups are determined by their coefficient ranking. The winners from each group will progress to the play-off round, where the draw will be decided according to their national ranking.

Hosting TeamFive play-offsFollowing the first qualifying round, the ten group winners will be paired into ties for home-and-away play-offs according to their national ranking. The highest-ranked group winner will play the tenth ranked group winner, the second against the ninth, the third against the eighth, the fourth against the seventh and the fifth against the sixth.
