Matt HardyTuesday, 31 January, 2012Kaunas march on in South Division Two at expense of Maccabi.Maccabi GB suffered two heartbreaking defeats to allow Kaunas to extend their lead on day two of The FA Futsal League South Division Two.
The Jewish community side were beaten by the leaders 2-1 and also lost 4-3 to the University of Plymouth in the day’s final game to leave Kaunas nine points clear after just eight games.
It got worse for Maccabi too, as the consistent Gloucester Futsal Revolution moved into second place, despite suffering their first defeat at the hands of the league leaders.
Gloucester’s first defeat of the campaign came in their opening game of the day, but they regrouped to pick up wins against Plymouth and Reading, whilst holding Maccabi to a 2-2 draw.
The day belonged to the Lithuanian influenced leaders though, as captain Vytautas Skarna and his team were in devastating form. With four wins from four, Kaunas are now the only undefeated side in the Second Division and left Swindon as firm favourites for the league title and promotion to the top tier.
