Azerbaijani futsal team loses to Portugal in first match of Euro-2012

Azerbaijani futsal team has held the first match in the European championship in Croatia.

The opponent of our team was the team from Portugal at Zagreb Arena. The match ended 4:1 in favor of the European vice champions.

Portuguese scored two goals quite Cardinal excelled in the third minute and footballer of the national team of Azerbaijan Felipe made autogoal. In the seventh minute Rajab Farajzade managed to resist one ball thus scoring the first goal of the national team of Azerbaijan in Euro-2012.

Unfortunately, Portugal has strengthened its advantage in the second time. Marigno scored in the 26th minute and Ricardigno in the 38th minute thus raising the score to 4:1.

The national team of Azerbaijan is to hold its next match against Serbia. The defeat in this meeting will deprive our team of the chances to get to the quarterfinal. The Portugal-Serbia team will be held on 5 February. These two teams compete in group D.

One match in Group C was also held yesterday: Italy beat Turkey 3:1 in Split.

Two more matches will be played in the European championship today: the match in group A Romania-Czech Republic will start in Split at 21.30 Baku time, while Slovenia will play Ukraine in Zagreb at 23.30.

The head coach of the team of Azerbaijan Jose Alesio da Silva:

“The match was good, almost equal but Portugal used its chances better. Portuguese are very strong. This was known.

In the second time, we played worse due to the old problem-a small bench. I don’t know what Andrei Tveryankin’s mistakes were caused with. Unfortunately, we were not lucky. Felipe made the autogoal.

If we play our game, we will beat Serbia. It is important to show everything we can. Serjio was not too lucky today? He did not score and this was his main problem. He acted not too bad”.
