CONCACAF teams are in preparations for this year’s Futsal Championship which will also qualify four nations to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012 … Here is a look at what they are doing…
ST. KITTS & NEVIS PROGRESS TO 2012 CONCACAF FUTSAL CHAMPIONSHIP St. Kitts & Nevis have progressed to its second-ever final round of a CONCACAF men’s competition as they will compete in the Confederation’s Futsal Championship set to take place at the Domo Polideportivo in Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala from 2-8 July … This is the result of the cancelation of the CFU (Caribbean Football Union) Qualifying Tournament that was scheduled for late February in Cuba after the official withdrawal of four (Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago) of the six teams … The Sugar Boyz, who’s under-20 men’s squad were the last team to compete at a final round tournament in 2007, joins Cuba, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, USA and host Guatemala in the eight-team Confederation tournament that will qualify for the first time four nations to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012 … The last berth to the CONCACAF Tournament will have the winner of a two-game playoff between Canada – El Salvador on dates to be determined.
COSTA RICA HOST PAIR OF FRIENDLIES AGAINST MEXICO Costa Rica will host Mexico in a pair of international friendlies scheduled to begin later this month … The first encounter is set for 29 February and will take place at Heredia’s Palacio de los Deportes, which was the venue for the 2000 and 2004 CONCACAF Tournaments, while the Gimnasio Nacional in San José will stage the second match on 2 March … The squads have faced-off nine times with the Ticos winning six including the last five meetings against the Tricolores.
