The FA.comFives gathering paceFriday, 10 February, 2012Futsal Fives has a second coming...The FA Futsal Fives programme continues to gather pace with a further five leagues commencing this month to build upon the already established and popular six adult recreational leagues. The new leagues in Manchester, Somerset, Oxfordshire and West Riding will build upon the fantastic interest and enthusiasm for playing Futsal in the current leagues in Northamptonshire, Liverpool, Middlesex and Hertfordshire which are now entering their second seasons.
This exciting format of five-a-side is still relatively new to England and the aim of The FA Futsal Fives is to provide opportunities for new adult participants and small-sided football teams to experience Futsal at a recreational level by competing in high quality local leagues across the country.
The opening round of fixtures are commencing throughout February with the first already underway in Somerset followed by West Riding on the 21 February, Oxfordshire 26 February and Manchester 4 March. Each FA Futsal Fives league has eight teams that play each other twice over the course of a 14 week season. Leagues will typically be played on a midweek evening at the same indoor venue each week, and each team will play one game per week.
Registering a team into one of The FA Futsal Fives Leagues will give your players a chance to compete for fantastic prizes such as England Senior Team tickets for the league winners and fantastic Umbro football kits for your team. What more could you want?
“The popularity of the FA Futsal Fives demonstrates that there is a real buzz around playing Futsal in our high quality leagues," says Simon Wright, Small Sided Football Project Officer for The FA.
"We are developing a programme across the country that will really capture the imagination of those players who love small sided formats of the game.”
Five-a-side has just got better – register for The FA Futsal Fives now!
