Staffordshire NewsletterFutsal delight for two local school teams09/02/2012A BUSY spell of action on the school sports front saw two further Stafford and Stone School Sport Partnership Futsal competitions take place in Stafford over the past week.
Year eight and nine boys were first up at Sir Graham Balfour School.
After a number of exciting and tense matches the host school were crowned champions with Weston Road Academy finishing runners-up.
Five teams competed in the girls competition at King Edward V1 school two days later.
Once again the event provided great entertaiment and terrific skill.
Weston Road Academy emerged overall winners and remained undefeated in all their matches.
Walton Priory and Sir Graham Balfour schools were tied for second place.
These latest winners will now progress to the Staffordshire final taking place at Fenton Manor later this month.
Steve Glover, Partnership development manager said: “The concluding Futsal competitions were once again played in a great spirit.
“It was great to see so many young people take part. I wish all our teams the best in the county finals this month." The recent competions were part of the National School Games initiative and partly organised by Staffordshire Football Association.
Referees were provided by Stafford College and Staffordshire University.
