PEP city wins futsal championship

PEP city beat Team Tertoens (4-2) in a penalty shoot-out to win the winter futsal championship that ended in the capital yesterday.
The teams that kicked their way into the finals among the 19, played a tough finals flawlessly, making it difficult for the spectators to decide on who would lift the championship trophy.

The match ended 4-4.

During the penalty shootout, Team Tertoens gave away the victory to PEP city by missing two goals.

The winners took home individual trophies and a cash prize of Nu 15,000, while the runner’s up received Nu 8,000 and individual trophies.

A Lungtenzampa school student, who plays for PEP city, Kinley Duba Tobden won the best player of the championship while national football player from PEP city, Yeshi Dorji, bagged the man of the match title.

A former national player of BFF who played for Team Tertoens, Pasang Tshering said their team had high expectations to win because most players were senior footballers.

The winter futsal championship kicked off on February 3. “We want to organise a similar championship this year for those above 35 years,” the championship organisers Karan and Yeshi Gyaltshen said.
