REGIONAL FUTSAL CHAMPIONSHIPS PLAYED IN WILDWOOD

by Ryan Parmer

19/2/12

WILDWOOD-- The Wildwoods Convention Center played host to the Northeast Regional Futsal Championships tonight.

Futsal is a game similar to indoor Soccer. Each team has five players per side, and the ball is smaller and has less bounce than a normal Soccer ball.

This weekend teams from all over the Northeast played for their chance to go to Anaheim California for the National Championships in July.

Participants ranged from ages 10 through adults.

United States Futsal President Alex Para says Futsal is a more action packed game than normal Soccer.

"It is a much faster game, and there's more scoring in this game. In the world championship of Soccer, there's usually about 3 goals per game, in the championship of Futsal there's about 9 goals a game," said Para.

This is the second year that the Northeast Regional Championships were played in the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Games will be played through tomorrow evening.
