SHEFFIELD FC FUTSAL LOOK TO GAIN GROUND ON NATIONAL FINAL PLACES

After a fortnight of setbacks in their FA Futsal League North campaign Sheffield FC Futsal will look to gain ground on a top two position when they host Tranmere Victoria on Sunday March 4 at Concord Sports Centre (Kick off 2.30pm)

Last Sunday Sheffield hoped they would get the chance to take out their frustrations on bottom club Crewsadors, after the previous week saw them beat 7-1 by FA Futsal League North table toppers Manchester in a subdued and completely out of character performance.

However, on the eve of the game Crewsadors had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, further backlogging Sheffield’s fixture list which sees them four games and thirteen points off top spot.

It also puts them three games and ten points off that vital second place currently occupied by Middlesbrough, leaving Sheffield with the remit of having to win all final six fixtures to ensure their place at the National Grand Finals in May.

This is by no means an unachievable feat as Sheffield are the reigning champions of the northern division, but it is probably a less comfortable position than they would have liked.

Sunday’s opponents Tranmere are a place behind Sheffield, equal on points but they have played two games more than their hosts.

Entry is free to all spectators for the match, and live updates will be provided on Sheffield FC’s twitter feed by following @SheffFCFutsal
