Squad named for double-header with Switzerland in Hereford.

Loughborough’s Jon Kurrant is set to win his first England cap after being handed a call-up to Pete Sturgess’ squad for the matches with Switzerland in Hereford next weekend.

Kurrant, a regular in the Development Squad set-up will be joined in the squad by Loughborough team-mates Will Rooke, Neil Morgan and Jason Kilbride, who has successfully recovered from an ankle injury that kept him out of the trip to France back in January.

Kurrant has been in impressive form for Loughborough in The FA National Futsal League this season, his six goals prior to Sunday’s victory over Team Newbury helping his side to third and touching distance of the play-off places in the Midlands Division.

After the disappointment of missing out against France, the former Charlton Athletic trainee continued with his impressive hard work and was not overlooked by Sturgess and Michael Skubala when the squad was named last week.

Stuart Cook also retains his place after impressing in his return to the squad in Lorient. Doug Reed is also included, as is Team Bath star Ian Parkes who has been in impressive form for Sion Kitson’s side in 2012.

One man who does miss out however, is stalwart Rob Ursell. The SPE Strovolou star, who plies his trade professionally in the Cypriot Futsal League was not selected, due to a clash with his club sides domestic play-off fixtures.

It will be the first time that England will have been without Ursell and many will be looking to see how Sturgess’ young stars will cope without their talismanic star.

England’s matches with Switzerland will be played this Friday and Saturday at ThePoint4 in Hereford. Both games will kick off at 7.30pm. The full squad can be found below.
