Watford ObserverParmiter's host qualifying round for Herts School futsal tournamentTuesday 6th March 2012Parmiter's School hosted the qualifying round for the Herts School Games Under-12 and U-14 Girls Futsal tournament last week which saw 100 pupils from five schools produce some outstanding football.
Playing under the floodlights, both tournaments followed a round robin format with the team finishing top crowned champions.
The U-14 girls was a close run tournament with both Francis Combe Academy and Parmiter's pushing each other to the final game.
Parmiter's ran out eventual winners through some exquisite pin point passing and finishing, the likes of which England star Kelly Smith would be proud of. Rickmansworth, St Joan of Arc and St Michaels also competed in the event.
The U-12 tournament culminated in a frenetic finish with Francis Combe Academy and Rickmansworth unable to be separated through points, goal difference, goals scored, goals conceded and a previous result. This led to a play-off fixture resulting in a Rickmansworth 2-0 win.
The winning teams will now represent the Three Rivers and Watford School Sports Partnership at the Herts School Games final later this month where they will have the chance to qualify for the regional final.
Rickmansworth School's Nathan Simpson said: "The tournament was a great success and enabled the girls to experience a new form of the game in futsal which aims to develop greater ball control. Who knows? Three Rivers and Watford may be the hub for future England stars."
